file missing after reboot

Hi all,

i have installed a TrueNAS core 13 in virtual machine
i create a file within name "SerialNumber" in directory /usr/local/etc/rc.d , it's just for information of Serial Number.

but after restarting the server, the file is gone. how to save the file permanently?

Don't put it there... put it in /root/ or on your data pool.

if I put files in a directory other than /root or on my data pool,, will they all be lost after reboot?

Files on your data pool won't be removed.

The /root/ directory on the boot pool is left alone also.

Anything else on the boot pool is not for user modification, so is at risk of loss if you mess with it.
