Platform is Supermicro H8SSL-i, AMD Opteron 175 dual core 2.2GHz, 4 GB DDR PC3200 400MHz memory, Onboard 2x Broadcom NetXtreme 1000tx, Onboard ServerWorks HT1000 SATA150 controller, internal IDE Transcend 2GB flash drive, 4 SATA Hitachi DeskStar 3TB

The system was running 8.2.0-RELEASE-x64, and I attempted an upgrade to 8.3.0-RELEASE-x64 via GUI. System restarted but showed panic on restart and any subsequent restart. I did not have time to do extensive troubleshooting, and have reverted to 8.2.0-Release for now. However, I did one boot with the SATA disks removed and the system seemed to get past this panic point, indicated that it did some post-upgrade processing, and then powered down to reboot. Before it powered on, I re-inserted the SATA disks but on boot the system errored as before. I never got to try any addidtinal boot on 8.3.0 with the SATA drives removed.

Panic details (forgive the layout and hopefully no typos - this was copied from the screen):
