Faster CPU or Intel QAT 8970

To speed up performance should I buy a faster CPU or a Intel QAT 8970?

Today I have

Acer Aspire XC-1660G-UW93
i5-11400 6-core 2.6GHz
with one PCIe3.0 x8 which has the 3008 SAS3

Deciding these two options:

1) buy Intel QAT 8970
buy mainboard that takes two PCIe3.0 x8 cards

2) buy a faster CPU only

Why do you think you need either of them? What are you trying to do, what performance do you get and what performance do you want to get? And what makes you think that your problem is not storage performance?

I don't think the Intel QAT 8970 is even supported by FreeBSD or TrueNas.

Can you provide full specs? Example for me. No point of getting CPU/QAT if you only have 8GB of RAM... (but of course we don't know since you didn't provide full specs)
