Hei, everyone,

On my FreeNAS box (v9.10.2-U6) I had two 3TB drives in Mirror. Both where:

Code:
Western Digital Black 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB WD3003FZEX

Now one of the drives failed, I offline it, shutdown box and comparing S/N from S.M.A.R.T. took out the failed drive. At this point, I wanted to buy the new drive with the same vendor, model, capacity, but unfortunately, they are out of stack. I'm worried, that the new drive, that I will buy will have lower block counts (actual disk size), and there will be insufficient space to resilver. Is it possible? Or all 3TB drives will work?
I'm planning to buy this one:

Code:
SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200 3TB SATA 64MB ST3000DM001

By default, 2GB of swap is allocated per hd. This can be shrunk if the HD is too small (which is unlikely these days)

Relax, buy what you want, and if there is a problem we'll help you deal with it.

Isn't it the Seagate 3 TB drives of which @DrKK said that the optimal storage configuration is buried as deeply as possible in your nearest landfill?

But to the question, HDD capacities are pretty standardized these days, so the odds of a problem are slim.
