I've read through the documentation and understand that I won't waste any capacity when adding a new six 6TB drive RAIDZ2 vdev to an existing pool that currently consists of a six 4TB drive RAIDZ2 vdev, e.g. the 6TB drives won't be treated at 4TB drives. Very rough estimate I should end up with a 30TB pool (4x4 + 4x6).
I know in a single vdev the capacity of each drive is limited to the smallest drive in that vdev. Just want to confirm that isn't the case when extending a pool.
I guess ZFS has the smarts to stripe data over two different size vdevs in a single pool.
