I just finished building my new server with the following specs.

2X xeon 2670
Asus Z9PA-D8
64gb ddr3 ecc ram
intel X550-T2 NIC
Intel RES2SV240
LSI 9240-8i (flahed to 9211-8i it mode)
6 8TB WD white hdd's
6 10TB WD white hdd's

For some reason, the expander doesn't want to show my drives. From what I thought, it was plug and play... It at least has the plug part. I'm not sure if it's because I flashed my raid card to a hba, but it seems like it should just work. I have tried 2 different pci slots without any luck at all. Is there something to setting this card up to make it work?

It is, does it show up in camcontrol devlist?

Didn't see it anywhere. When I look at my disks list, I see the boot drives and the ssd's that are on the hba card, but every single drive (all of which are on the expander) are missing. I really hope I don't have a dead card.

It should show up similar to this:

<ATA WDC WD40EFRX-68W 0A82> at scbus33 target 7 lun 0 (pass2,da1)
<ATA WDC WD40EFRX-68W 0A82> at scbus33 target 8 lun 0 (pass3,da2)
<ATA WDC WD40EFRX-68N 0A82> at scbus33 target 9 lun 0 (pass4,da3)
<ATA WDC WD40EFRX-68W 0A82> at scbus33 target 10 lun 0 (pass5,da4)
<ATA WDC WD40EFRX-68N 0A82> at scbus33 target 11 lun 0 (pass6,da5)
<ATA WDC WD40EFRX-68W 0A82> at scbus33 target 12 lun 0 (pass7,da6)
<ATA INTEL SSDSC2KG24 0100> at scbus33 target 13 lun 0 (pass8,da7)
<ATA INTEL SSDSC2KG24 0100> at scbus33 target 14 lun 0 (pass9,da8)
<Intel RES2SV240 0d00> at scbus33 target 15 lun 0 (ses0,pass10)

If it's not it's either dead, not powered, or not correctly connected to the HBA.

Just to be clear, an SAS expander is not a PCIe card - the edge connector is provided only for power and mechanical mounting as an alternative to the molex socket.

If it is connected to the HBA via an SFF-8807 cable and has power you might have a dead expander.

While you're at it, see if it shows up in sesutil.
