Hi all,

I've been trying to install 9.2.1.4 to a usb thumb drive for the following box:
Dell PowerEdge T110
Xeon CPU X3430 @ 2.40GHz (2394.04-MHz K8-class CPU)
10 Gb ram

I've tried both the "Install from CD" and "Burning an Image" methods several times. First I used an older 4Gb thumb drive, then, on a guess that the thumb drive was bad, I tried a brand new 8Gb drive. I've burned the install files several times to both thumb drives on 3 different computers using both methods.

The CD install to thumb drive indicates that it's happy with the results, but when rebooting to the thumb drive, I get to the FreeBSD F1/F2 prompt and the screen immediately begins to fill with ####. Pressing either F1 or F2 does nothing to interrupt the progression of hashes...

The "Burning an Image" method yields the identical results.

Any suggestions?

The CD installation usually works better for most users.

Try booting the flash drive in another computer. the flash drive might be okay.

If it's in a USB 3.0 slot, try USB 2.0 instead. lastly search the forum for your server/model number. Others may have run into issues before and posted their solution.

BTW, 9.2.1.5 was released last night.
