Error when swapping boot pool drives

I installed TrueNAS scale on some old 120GB SSDs I had laying around that had passed their SMART life expectancy.

After evaluating briefly, I decided to keep using it instead of swapping the TrueNAS Core boot drives back in.

When I found the new location for swapping the boot pool drives (System Settings -> Boot -> Actions -> Boot pool status -> find a drive click ... -> Replace) I was able to pick one of the new SSDs from a drop down. I got an error. I did it a second time with the other drive, got the same error (with different drive numbers).

See attached.

Haven't yanked the drives i booted off yet, nor rebooted. Will do so soon and report back with actual consequence of the error message.

After removing the original drives system did not boot.

Replaced one of the new drives with one of the originals, booted off original, pool was degraded.

Same error when trying to replace a disk.

detaching the old and attaching the new didn't produce an error in the interface.
