I'm trying to replaced a USB thumb drive in a mirrored boot. I was getting 'SMART not running' errors and the cause seemed to be one of USB thumb drives, which then proceeded to fail on a scrub (though I'm now wondering if there was some other cause for this reported failure). So I detached that thumb drive. But I'm now getting the error shown below while trying to attach a new USB thumb drive. Both are SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 32GB USB 2.0. I've tried two 2.0 USB ports. Any suggestions? I'm probably going to order a cheap SSD to boot from if there's not obvious solution here (this is my 2nd USB thumb drive failure, I'm running at about one per year so far, so if the replacement isn't smooth it's not worth my time).
