Error after installing GNOME

Hello,
I tried install Gnome and after restart I have no IP from DHCP and so on error in message:

error resolving pool 0.freebsd.pool.ntp.org

I can't even startX.

I put in rc.conf
line

ifconfig_lagg0="DHCP"

and restarted by

service netif restart
no ping respond locally..

Where did you try to install GNOME? Inside a jail, or on the base OS?

Furthermore, it actively overwrites system files, like rc.conf, based on its settings in the system database, so various settings GNOME needs are now lost. You’re going to have to reinstall the base OS.

I thought it will work with no issues as other linux distros I wanted to have emulation installed. Ok now I know where I stuck. Thanks

FreeNAS is an embedded solution. One does not simply install anything on the base OS. A NAS is supposed to be a device sitting in a rack or in my case at home in a cupboard. I wonder why anyone would want a graphical environment on it. Mine do not even have monitors and keyboards attached.

So if you would elaborate on your use case a bit, we could possibly suggest some suitable setups. ;)

What I wanted done was to run gnome for emulation. Intead run always weak VM I will install ubuntu now. Thanks!

I do not see how gnome has any relationship to emulation, but probably FreeNAS was the wrong product for you.

I think I understand @bienio's intent. GNOME has an application, Boxes, for managing both VMs and remote servers. He may have been trying to use Boxes to manage bhyve VMs instead of the web GUI. Unfortunately, Boxes relies on KVM and libvirt, not bhyve. FreeBSD unfortunately can't use KVM as a hypervisor, and libvirt is very limited on FreeBSD.
