I just can't get to the bottom of this problem and could really do with some help. Noob to FreeNAS, by the way.
Installed firefly successfully but it does not appear in the tree menu.
Receive the following message:
[freeadmin.navtree:526] Couldn't retrieve http://192.168.1.13/plugins/firefly/3/_s/treemenu: Http error 502 Bad gateway

Running 9.2.1.5 64-bit

there is one other plugin installed, minidlna, which does appear in the tree menu.
Tried a complete reinstall without success.
Please help.

I just fought with this for 12 hours or so yesterday while testing FN in a VM.

I've been able to resolve the "502 Bad Gateway" error and get the plugin to show in the tree menu but it still doesn't properly load.

Partial FIX:

modify <jails root>/firefly_x/usr/pbi/firefly-amd64/control

From:

exec /usr/pbi/firefly-$(uname -m)/bin/python

To:

exec /usr/pbi/firefly-$(uname -m)/bin/python2.7

Now I receive a "Some Error Occured" meesage when attempting to start Firefly or edit the plugin.

Tried your partial fix. Yes, firefly now appears in the tree menu and no longer get 502 error. But, like you, also get "some error occurred" when trying to configure or start.
What next?

Check your jail network settings. I was having major issues with this kind of error, and found the root cause to be the fact that I'd somehow set my jail IPs to be outside my subnet...things no worky when you do that...
