I have had the emby plugin installed for a while now, prior to updating to 9.10, and it has worked fine.

Just lately, well 2 days ago, the emby server couldn't see my music folder, so I decided to delete the plugin and start again. The plugin installed ok, but it will not start by the normal off/on button.

Is there any other way to get it started?

Edit:
When I veiw the Jails, emby_1 is shown as running, but under Plugins/Installed it is not on. How can this be?
I cannot access the emby_1 webserver though.

In the shell which is running in the background I get these lines:

Jun 17 20:12:21 freenas manage.py: [freeadmin.navtree:576] Couldn't retrieve http://192.168.0.22/plugins/emby/3/_s/treemenu: timed out

the jail starting is different then the plugin starting. the plugin runs inside and depends on the jail, but the jail can be running with the plugin off.

make sure you have networking working in the jail. can you ping your computer from the jail?

I can ping my laptop and desktop from within an emby shell, ie root@emby_1, but I cannot ping the emby plugin, 192.168.0.3.
Also the emby plugin is not showing in the left hand tree menu, under plugins.

I'm not sure what you mean by can't ping the emby plugin? the plugin is a service, not an operating system/jail that can be pinged. the jail should be the one with the IP assigned to it. Is 192.168.0.3 the jail's IP?

I would make sure networking is working (sounds like it is), the IP for the jail is valid.
Then try restarting the jail
If that doesn't work you could try reinstalling emby
- upload a different PBI to the emby_1 jail
- delete the emby plugin
- upload the latest enby PBI to the emby_1 jail
- delete the extra plugin you installed

I don't really have these networking issues, I think because I disable VIMAGE and assign an actuall interface to my jails.

I have other plugins with different ip addresses and I can ping each of those ok, so that is what I ment by can't ping the ip address of the emby plugin.
Yes 192.168.0.3 is the emby_1 plugin ip address.

Networking is all ok and I am presently listening to music from or via the plexmedia_1 pugin on my laptop. So that confirms that is working fine.
Restarting the jail to me means stopping it and then starting it, which is what I have done
.

Now then, what is a PBI and how do I upload that to the emby_1 jail.

When you say stop and, start. Is that on the Plugins tab, or the Jails tab? I was recommending you restart it on the Jails tab, the reload the webpage. Emby might show on the left panel then.

PBIs are the format the plugins are installed as. They are hosted here http://download.freenas.org/plugins/9/x64/ You can upload them to a jail on the jails tab.

Server not found from the link you gave.
You can't find download.freenas.org? How did you ever install any plugins?

I did find the webpage after a refresh thanks.

Yes I installed Plexmedia about a year ago from the list of available plugins.

The emby_1 still won't start, and get 'some error occured' message afterwards

I suggest you try disabling VIMAGE for the emby_1 jail as I said earlier.

Or reupload the PBI like I specified.

Actuaslly I have deleted the emby_1 plugin and went to reinstall it, but the download is stuck on 10%, and the install is stuck on 60%

Jails tab, configure the jail's settings. there's a checkbox to enabled/disable VIMAGE. if you disable it you need to also assign an interface to the jail.

I have tried yet again to install the emby plugin, but even when I install from the downloaded plugin on my system, I still get the 'unable to find template' message.
I have added the emby_1 jail, then added the template. I inserted the URl plus the filename for both plugin and template, but still the same error.

Apparently a few other users have the same problem, and after a bit of searching I foumd this thread:
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/standard-jail-template-errors.40591/emby-3.0.5972-amd64.pbi

Is deletion of the warden-templates done within FreeNAS, as I'm not sure how to do that.

Just a thought, I have FreeNAS 9.3 with the 9.10 initial update, would that make a difference to the problem.
Also I see on this page http://download.freenas.org/jails/ there is a link for 10/, would that be 9.10.
