Elasticsearch status?

I'm looking to switch over from linux to truenas core but my research has told me that elasticsearch is currently not functional on the samba server that ships with the operating system.

Has this been fixed/addressed? I'm a Mac user and use spotlight frequently so elasticsearch is a must for me.
