I honestly didn't know where to ask this... as easy as it is.

I set up FreeNas on an old laptop. Got my volumes created... added a static IP (i think)... followed all the directions until 5:27min on the plex media server instuctions... and then lost it...

What is this ip address he is talking about? Its not the same static IP i set up? ie. http://192.168.1.108/

The Plex Media Server will be in a jail. Kind of like a lightweight virtual machine. It will have a different IP address and is somewhat insulated from the NAS itself.

I know it's not what you asked, but if you set up FreeNAS on an old laptop, the odds that it meets the hardware requirements are virtually nil. For the IP address of your Plex jail, one way to get it is to click on the Jails button in the top menu of the FreeNAS web GUI--it will list all the jails you have set up and their IP addresses.
