My E3C256D4I-2T wont power on. Ive tried two different power supplies, different case, different ram and single drive. I get the power on color ok and the heartbeat but nothing happens when I go to power on. I've even tried reversing the power button cable and nothing works. This is a board from new egg business and also a second from amazon. Could someone post their build with pictures so I can compare because I am stumped. Ive built many servers and this has never happened. Its like there is no power at the panel pinouts....

Any indications from the IPMI? Do the power commands via IPMI do anything?

I didn't try IPMI but I don't have anything setup yet. I want to at least be able to get to the bios with a basic keyboard and mouse.....

Wanting your end goal to happen right away is generally incompatible with thoroughly testing the possibilities to determine what is failing. Take things one step at a time. IPMI is a great way to get some insight into what may be getting deposited into the SEL, which could turn out to be a critical debugging clue.

I get what your saying except I dont know the server ip to reach it via ipmi.....I think I would have to get to the bios once at least to get that info unless you can show me another way to grab the ip. Now I do know it gets an ip since I get a connection light at the nic....

If you're running DHCP on your network, just go look for the BMC's MAC on your DHCP server.

You can also look at the connected devices list in your router and try all the IPs you don't recognize.

From what you wrote, if I had to place a bet I'd look into BIOS compatibility with the CPU. Had a very similar issue... took me a while to realize I had bought the wrong CPU.

I will check the router but according to Asrockrack this CPU is compatible with the first bios revision unless I am reading wrong. Thanks for all the replies......

Did you try reseating the CPU? Check the integrity of the pins as well. CPU and MB looks compatibile.

That Ill check after work. I have one board in out for service (RMA) Taiwan and this is the second one available from Amazon and its doing the same thing. Usually that would put up an error but I am getting no power from the control panel pinout which is strange. I've probably built 20 machines on their server boards and have 5 watercooled going on 8 years flawless. I'm wondering if all the one available in the US are bad at the moment....

If you post a picture of your board as assembled perhaps we can see something amiss that you do not.
