I would like to ask for help in achieving theoretically an easy task. But while trying for weeks to no avail, not only I get assurance that I am a noob, I feel like I am a the ONLY noob, because I literally almost cannot find any data on the topic.
The goal:
In a home network, to create two separate SMB shares: 1. For all home users to be able to access (r.w.e.) all folders and data within one dataset. 2. For all users to have individual folder for their personal data, pictures, backups and so on, not accessible and hidden from all other users but themselves, in another dataset.
One "super user" (i.e. 'user_1') should be able to access all the data.
All users use MacOS and iOS devices.
The means:
I've created three users ('user_1', 'user_2', 'user_3') and assigned them to a group "builtin_users".
Then I've created two separate SMB datasets ('dataset_1' and 'dataset_2') in a main pool. Inside a 'dataset_2' I have nested three datasets for each user ('User_1', 'User_2' and 'User_3') and assigned them to each user as their respective Home directory.
Dataset '_1' and '_2' got 'user_1' as an owner. And datasets 'User_1/2/3' got 'user_1/2/3' as their respective owners.
Then, just to test if everything works, I've logged in with each user account to each share and created their respective public and personal data folders.
The problem:
No matter what ACL configuration I choose, while signed in with 'user_1', I see all the folders and data from both datasets (or other datasets created in a past) duplicated in both shares. After lots of trials and errors I've noticed, that each time I create a new dataset with 'user_1' as an owner, it automatically duplicates the data from previously created dataset! Why?
I can throw in an intuitive shot, it seems that it has something to do with group of the 'user_1', because earlier it had an auxilary group assigned as 'Editor'. After changing it to "builtin_users" the data duplication stopped. Then I tried to delete duplicated data, but only some files are movable to trash, others just stay ("...because item is in use") or reappear after deletion. Like a Hydra!
Other strange thing happens with permissions configuration. To set permissions, I use ACL manager. But after some time, it switches back to default layout.
I am sorry, but I cannot find specific case in manual or a "template" for such a task. Or maybe my goal is unrealistic?
Any help would be appreciated.
