Dumb it waaay down for me

Just installed Freenas up and running raidz2.

This is a on a home network which I don't need or want to setup permissions for (at least for now).

Setup four volumes one of which is named VIDEO

Setup as Windows share

Tried all iterations of SMB settings and can't figure out why even if I map drive with root user permissions it won't let me copy files when in Windows. I can open folders but can't copy anything into them. Also, it looks like "everyone" under security settings for these folders has read only - so how do I give "everyone" in Windows permission to write

Thank you for the video. I've followed it multiple times and despite my attempt, my result is always the same - I can create folders I can see from any windows machine in the house and map them but can't copy files into them. Every time I try to drop a file in these folders I get a windows error "you need permission to perform this action" despite setting up permissions the mutliple ways I've seen on videos.

very frustrated. Any other videos I can follow?

even if I just create a "username" and "password" in group "username", I try to MAP SMB share and use credentials "username" and "password"

I get the windows error:

"the network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To Connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share"

the folder is not mapped on this PC- the error makes no sense

I don't understand

To see what Windows thinks the current mapping to be, type net use from a command window.
