Dear All,

I was wondering if it is possbile to share the same "share" for windows and apple?

the reason is i have moves that my lodger would like to view that are on the NAS,

or is there another way we can access the same file.

i am new to FreeNAS and any advice help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Mac and Windows both support samba/cifs nicely. that's you're easy answer.

However your questions bring up an interesting idea. how do you handle file locks with samba and afp as it is my understanding they do their own thing.... and that I've never actually thought about.

Thanks for the reply,

I have worked it out another way,

if i create a volume called "films" and then set the correct permissions.

then create a windows share and apple share that point directly to the voule called "films":)
