Dual Networks for VM's

Is it possible to use the second NIC on my MB to serve a second LAN so I can setup VM's for use on the second LAN only, I just tried to add a LAN IP and it seemed to disable access to the GUI on the current LAN IP and non of the current VM's worked like they should, so I removed the second LAN IP.

Also why do I lose access to the existing GUI and also lose all my VM's whenever I configure that second NIC in Scale? I have to reboot the whole machine to regain access and make everything work again

To use a second NIC in a VM, you don't need to assign an address for that NIC on the host.

Also, you should not assign a second IP address on the same LAN to any additional NIC on the host: https://www.truenas.com/community/resources/multiple-network-interfaces-on-a-single-subnet.45/

TY, works on the second LAN on a different subnet fine with no IP in the second NIC
