Does the HPE H220 HBA need to be in IT mode?

Hello folks. I have a DL360P with an H220. Im going to be installing ESXi and passing-through the H220 to a FREENAS vm. My question is, does this card need to be flashed to IT mode? If yes, Im not finding a guide on how to do it. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Cost of the cards? Not sure...they were purchased quite a while back by my company. A quick search seems to indicate that they may be sourced for around $50. Pretty decent 6G HBA cards with 2308 chip.

Can the H220 be used on HP DL580 G7?
or is better another one like H221 or H222?

I need HBA on my server DL580 G7 and dont know what Controller is compatible with it... I have the P410i and is not good for ZFS.

H220 (SAS2) would work as well as H240 (SAS3). Just depends on what you want you need and how much you want to spend.

Tks for the help bigphil... i just disconnect the cables from the p410i and connect them to the H2** ?
The I/O disk expander should work with it just right isnt ?

Correct. Just make sure you update to the latest firmware for the HBA card.
