Does scrubbing do the same like reading the whole pool?

Sorry for my noob question:
I know that it is recommend to regularly scrub the pool. However, if I run a filebackup of my pool, every file that I access has to be checked for data integrety, therefore running a whole (file) backup will have the same result as scrubbing? What am I missing?

A scrub is more thorough, and also checks the pool metadata, and replicas across all vdevs in the pool. A backup only checks the blocks associated with the files.
