Hello,

may sound like a stupid question - I setup two freenas boxes.

looking for the running process with ps -aux,
I always find running g_eli running.

I never checked the encrypt flag on the webinterface (freenas 9.1.1)

root 22397 0.0 0.0 0 16 ?? DL 12:21PM 0:00.00 [g_eli[6] multipath/]

/mnt/spot/share-backup/hosts/vzabbix01# geli status
Name Status Components
multipath/disk3p1.eli ACTIVE multipath/disk3p1
multipath/disk2p1.eli ACTIVE multipath/disk2p1
multipath/disk5p1.eli ACTIVE multipath/disk5p1
multipath/disk4p1.eli ACTIVE multipath/disk4p1
multipath/disk1p1.eli ACTIVE multipath/disk1p1
multipath/disk6p1.eli ACTIVE multipath/disk6p1
I wiped the multipath discs, recreated a new pool...eli is here again.
I have the same issue on another box.
maybe someone can enlighten me!

No, p1's are the swap partition. Those are always encrypted for security reasons.

FWIW, I had the same question and it's not covered in the documentation. Good question, good answer.
