Does freenas 11.1-U6 detect it’s own version?

According to the guide: https://doc.freenas.org/11/install.html#performing-the-installation

It says it will detect existing 8.x and 9.x installations, however I’m looking to ‘upgrade’ my 11.1 release. A power outage messed my boot partition and I wanted to do the upgrade option so it can hopefully reformat the boot partition and resolve the issue. I believe my boot zpool is still fine.

Thank you!

My config backup is a bit old so I would rather not. If possible, please answer the question

Your question is confusing. Which bit are you worried about?

If you look at the guide, you have the ability to “upgrade” and installation which clears out the boot partition but keeps your database. I’m looking to do exactly that since my grub partition got messed up in a power cycle.

The guide only mentions it being able to detect 8.x and 9.x version. However in my case I’m looking to run the installer on an existing 11.1 version.

Hope that helps explain.

Maybe you just run the installer and have a look if your version is in the list?

You have daily backups of your configuration on your pool, assuming that's where your .system dataset is (which it is by default). But yes, the installer should pick up on your existing installation and allow you to "upgrade" it.
