I hope the following is enough information at least for an initial response, if not I can provide more info....
As a first question, I'd like to get opinions on how you would divide 135TB, not technically how, but in the sense of how many mounts/RAIDS. The box has 45 3TB drives, 5 drives per SATA backplane (9 backplanes), and 3 backplanes per SATA PCIe card (3 cards).
The drives are 5400rpm.
The use is for archiving, with very little read access after data is initially written.
Is it better to have more or fewer volumes (why)???
