I just created a new FreeNAS server for a friend -- he got a used Dell PE1950 for virtually nothing. The server has 2x750GB SATA drives on a SATA II controller.

My question is about resizing when I upgrade these disks. He won't be buying the new drives for a while, but they will be 2TB drives. The NAS is configured as ZMirror, and the drives are hot-swappable (at least when the SAS/SATA controller does the RAID function -- this is disabled right now).

If I swap out one 750 drive to a 2TB disk, I know that FreeNAS will dumb down the 2TB to the size of the smaller disk. Once the drives are sync'd, what I want to know is if the volume will expand to the full 2TB when I replace the other (smaller) drive.

Thanks in advance,
Joel
