Dell R510 12 Bay with PERC H200

Hello!

I have a Dell R510 (12 x 2TB SATA) which I intend to use with FreeNAS. Does anybody have any suggestions on what disk controller to use? I know that H200 has to be flashed to IT mode and there are some inconsistencies with firmware versions between FreeNAS and LSI.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Yes, plus others. On https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?resources/hardware-recommendations-guide.12/ there is a session dedicated to that and lists one or two that won't need be flashed.

When I did Dell, long time ago, I had a Perc 6/i. Flashed to IT mode and used the same cables/backplane. You may be able to do the same.

Thanks melloa! That's a good guide. I will try to flash the Dell PERC H200. If I encounter any problems, I will most likely purchase a LSI 9201 from eBay.
