Dell MD1000 or MD1200 with LSI Card for JBOD

Hey everyone,

Can I use Dell MD1000 or MD1200 enclosures of SATA drives (via SAS cable) to a LSI controller for JBOD?

The MD1000's are pretty cheap on ebay, I just need to know if a LSI imaged SAS controller can see the drives on them and use them in pure JBOD. If so, what controller? Can it handle daisychained units?
