Dataset snapshots are not deleting, even though they are set too

Hi everyone,

thanks for taking the time to read.

I have various snapshots set with different retention periods for my various datasets. However, when I manually examine the snapshots, none of the snapshots for the datasets are set to expire?

Upon checking, all my datasets are set not to be destroyed.

Is there something I am doing wrong, or is this as per design or another issue, please?

appreciate anyone's help and advice?

thanks

Which version of SCALE is this? Perhaps it's an unfinished feature, and it's not correctly calculating the expiration date?

It honestly seems like a bug.

Yes I’m inclined to agree. I’m new to TrueNAS. This is my first time server if you like

But it seems to me that there is a disconnect somewhere between instruction and actual execution.

As a free user is there a place to report this or is this the only forum?

Core is more mature and feature-stable. SCALE is still growing into itself.

There's the Jira tracker for reporting bugs and feature requests:

I would report it for you, but I use Core (not SCALE), so I wouldn't be able to follow-up with any feedback.

Apparently there was another report of the incorrect date being displayed for a snapshot's retention, yet the operation itself pruned the snapshots at the correct time.

In your case it's not displaying an inaccurate date: it's just outright saying it won't be pruned.

Yes, I think what I will do is wait for the first snapshots to expire and see if the data remains. Then report if the issue is real.

Thanks very much for your help
