For last 3-4 days, everyday I am getting e-mail that updates are available. I apply these updates and have to reboot FreeNAS daily. I am on FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE train. I apply these updates in case I miss out on some critical security update. I have to shutdown all 6 databases VMs which are using FreeNAS. This has become painful.

Am I doing something wrong or are updates being released at such high frequency?

Thanks,
Arun

Yup, they have been occuring frequently, though the devs are working on fixing that. The ultimate aim is to have one update a month, barring any vulnerability fixes. You will want to apply tonight's update as it contains the fixes for the latest OpenSSL vulnerabilities.

You can read the Changelog for each SU at http://download.freenas.org/9.3/STABLE/ so that you can determine when it is worthwhile to apply your next updates. For example, if you see that the next 3 updates don't affect your system but the 4th one does, you can wait until the 4th one is out. The system will automatically apply all of the intervening updates in one batch.

There was a problem with the update email notifications then another problem with the changelogs a few days ago and the devs made several updates to fix them, in principle the updates are more spaced. There is a few threads about that, search a bit on the forum ;)

I've been experiencing the same thing. Only that the notification email and when I click "apply pending updates" It shows me the same changelog every time.

UPDATE:
And what I mean with the same changelog I mean a very long list of changes that goes all the way back to before 2015.

It's been fixed. Update to the latest version and the problem will have been fixed.
