Greetings all!

I noticed there's quite a few threads on the subject but it appears that situations differ so I wanted to post my own findings in case someone could help. I noticed today an email from the script (posted here) showing something wrong with one of my drives. Here's the entire email:

Is this drive toast?

No its not toast. But it is warning you about a potential issue.

What I would do is:
1. Get a new drive and replace da0
2. Run the WD diagnostics against the drive on another computer as a baseline.
3. Run badblocks or equivalent on the entire drive destrutively
4. Now run the WD Diags again - if it passes then keep the drive as a spare for the future

Actually, run a long SMART test on it first and post the result here

Sorry for the delay, here's the result of a long test:

All on the same LBA.
Definately replace it - but don't throw it away. Badblocks it thoroughly whilst NOT in the array, then log test it and see what happens.

Unfortunately I don't have another computer handy to run badblocks. Is there an alternative? Thank you for your help this far.

It isn't as thorough - but will probably do the job. From memory you want to use the erase entire disk function

If you have another port available on the NAS you could use that - just make sure you target the correct drive. Also do it a tmux / screen session and not a basic shell, or god forbid the TrueNAS menu shell.
