Hi everyone, please forgive me if this is a duplicate question, but I didn't see something out there quite like it. I have just started using FreeNAS and noticed when creating a new ZFS pool by default the UI seems to NOT give you the option to segregate drives into different vdevs. Be default it uses all drives selected and sticks them into the same vdev. I'd like to create mirror vdev's and pool them together into one ZFS volume, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do so using the interface. Am I missing something incredibly obvious or is FreeNAS just going to take care of the vdev work for me under the hood?

Just built a new box with 4x3TB drives and noticed the same thing. Thankfully I didn't need to separate out the pool in to separate Vdevs so this wasn't an issue.

How many drives do you have and how do you want to arrange them?

When creating a volume in volume manager you can select how many drives you want. You can then extend that volume or create a new one with the remaining drives. Read through the documentation here and maybe it will make more sense.
