Creating the first pool prevents rebooting properly

Either with TrueNAS Core or TrueNAS Scale, after the boot-pool is setup (mirror of sata SSDs), when I create my first pool on 2 HDDs, I can't reboot anymore since the process is stuck:
  • for TrueNAS Scale, at GRUB level, with error message "error compression algorithm XXX not supported"
  • for TrueNAS Core, is stuck on the screen with messages about
    BIOS drive C: is disk0
    BIOS drive D: is disk1
    BIOS drive E: is disk2
I don't know what to do. I have done a memtest86+ that allowed me to detect a faulty ram stick, but now I am stuck. My device is a QNAP, so the BIOS is fairly limited, can't choose UEFI and can't hide the HDDs at boot time.

2x 4TB WD Red drives in mirror. Settings by default from GUI.

boot-pool is 2x Samsung 850 EVO SSDs in mirror selected from the install menu. Nothing changed from default.

Hardware specs:
QNAP TVS-471
i3-4150
8GB DDR3-1600
custom qnap motherboard
Qnap PSU

Note:
While I don't create the HDD pool, I can reboot as many times as I want.
