Connecting to NetBIOS name or Hostname - And not server IP address.

I just updated to an actual 10GBe swtich, before I was directly connected to the server. So I had to do some network changes.

Before the update I had some network folders mapped as network drives on windows.

The path name of these network drives was something like \\SERVER\Archive.

However since the upgrade I can only seem to connect to the server using the IP addres, in this case 192.168.1.60.

This means that the address of the network drive will change and this is a problem for certain applications as the path cannot change...

Is there a way to solve this? Am I missing something?

I set the server name SERVER in the network settings under hostname and in the SMB settings under NetBIOS name. I actually never changed this, I just deleted the old network interface and recreated it with a new IP address.

THX for any help!
