Below is my step by step experience of setting up NAS 9.2.15 and owncloud 6.0.1. Both are fresh install. I have used FreeNAS for over a year. BTW: The migration from NAS 8.3.1 to 9.2.15 failed badly. I am glad I backed up everything. Below is the process of installing owncloud.
The following steps are from my memory. I think it is 90% correct.
-Installed NAS 9.2.15: I found two new tabs. They are Plugins and Jails.
-I am not too sure about the Jails step below. It happened right after I bought up NAS 9.2.15.
oI clicked Jails then I clicked Add Jails then New Jails was installed.
-I clicked Plugins and saw a lot of Plugins.
oThen I highlighted owncloud then clicked Install at the bottom of the screen.
oThen owncloud was installed.
oThen I went to the Installed TAB of Plugins to turn on owncloud Service. By default, it is OFF.
-Then I went to the Jails TAB and found the IPv4 address of owncloud_1.
oOwncloud_1 IP is 10.128.128.x and my NAS is 10.128.128.y. Then I realized that these two services don’t use the same IP address.
-From a Windows PC: I http into the owncloud IP – not https. You should be able to find other posts talk about the SSL etc.
-When you http into the owncloud IP the first time. The program will guide you thru the step to create user account. Then the screen will take you to owncloud web site to download the ‘client’ program.
-Then you can launch the client program at the Windows PC and enter the owncloud IP address. I used http://owncloudip ,then username, password then enter the name of local folder and the name of the NAS folder.
-Then you are done.

To check the owncloud status, you can click the cloud icon at the bottom of the PC. If it is blue, it is in the process of sync up with the ‘cloud’. If the cloud with a check mark green then the folder is synced. You can also click the icon to bring up a status window.

Other user talks about limitation of the cloud. With the version that I mentioned, I uploaded 28GB of files with no issues.
Happy Nassing and Clouding!

This is more of an experience than a How To Guide. It should be moved out of How To Guide area, I'm just too tired to think of where to move it. (Moved it)

This is a very helpful and useful tutorial for me. Although I do have one gripe, you plainly just describe that we can find SSL walk through by searching the site. Unfortunately, I have been searching high and low for information on setting up SSL with freeNAS and have come up with zer0 info on the matter. The document online just states to copy and paste the info. But what part of the SSL? All of it? Most of it? Use the private in first section and verification in the confirm?
