Well, I had been lamenting how the flooding crisis had halted drive capacity advances at around 4TB for a few years... looks like things are moving again.

Seen this the other day. SanDisk Pushes SAS 4TB SSD Drives into the Data Center. 16TB drives are supposed to be coming out next year perhaps.

There's already 5tb drives floating around the retail channels. Mostly external drives for now though, unfortunately.

I'm beginning to wonder if some kind of HSM isn't about to become a necessity? Or maybe disks need to become modular with a single platter/module?
