CIFS file save slow to complete?

When I save my edits to file on the NAS over a CIFS share PSPAD gives me a message a few seconds later that the file has changed. When that file is a shell script I'm testing on the NAS itself I'm unable to run it for a few seconds as it claims its in use.

Looks like the save is taking a very long time to complete for some reason. Any suggestions where I should start looking?
