Chelsio S310E not being recognised on HP Microserver Gen8

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a Chelsio S310E CR card to go into a HP Microserver Gen8 running FreeNAS 11 U2.

I can't see the card at all under FreeNAS; no adapter shown using ifconfig or lspci. dmidecode -t 9 shows the slot as available.

I bought two of these cards of ebay; and I've tried both in the Microserver and my Windows 10 PC. I can confirm that the Windows 10 PC can see both cards.

I'm not sure if this is a FreeNAS or a Microserver Gen8 problem. I can also confirm that the card seems to be seated OK in the Microserver as the send / receive LEDs are lit.

My gut feeling is that it's a Microserver problem due to the no show with lspci or dmidecode.

Any thoughts on next troubleshooting steps are much appreciated.

Hi all,

FWIW, I picked up a ConnextX-2 card and it works fine no problems. Plug and play with no config required.

I assume for whatever reason the HP Microserver didn't like the Chelsio card.

Keep up the good FreeNAS / TrueNAS work! :)
