Spent £20 on a new PCIE SAS2008 based controller card, crosslflashed it to IT mode, disabled onbaord SATA and fitted all four drives to the new card. Apart from mucking up the FreeNAS installs update daemon its done naff all to fix the problem I have. Dropped out after 40min so the on-board controller is probably fine.
I flashed the card to P16 and have had the error about the P20 driver but It was 1am so I called it quits. I just cant see the wrong driver giving me the same issue but ill update it, fix FreeNAS with an update from USB->config restore and re-test before ordering some Intel drives £££

And if you tried a SAS2008 controller that implies you've eliminated data cabling as an issue...

There's really only two places to go from here. The SSD itself or the power supply.
