Hı guys.

I will get the files of all users in the company to the FreeNAS server. So I created a dataset with the names of all the departments. such as financial, accounting, human resources. I'm having some problems with file permissions. Departments should not see the inside of folders. Everyone should be able to access the folder where their member is. I can not make the other group passive on Windows permissions. By default, the group section is selected. When this is selected, people who are not in the group can see this folder. When Windows is selected, the permissions are automatic and I can not modify it. The other group should not be marked.
I would be glad if you help.

Permissions for windows are done on windows. Log in on a windows machine go to the folders and you can adjust the permissions of each user/group.

Thank you for your advice. But I dont want to this. Our company have got 100 departmants. I'cant log in on a windows machine and go to the folders. I would like to make all our proses on the freenas server. Why can ı do this settings on the freenas. if you selected unix choose, this is possible or mac chosse. But it isnt on the windows.
The other groups should not see the inside of folders. So, on windows all permisions are should be 770.
Please, think a folder. its permissions is 770. owner have read write executable. Group is same same. But other grup is not read write executable..
Thanks

Then you need to install active directory software to control the permissions.

There is... you can use inhertiable permissions but its not really recommended for production systems and a real pain to setup and maintain especially if you want to make changes. Just get windows server and use active directory. It will save you alot of time hassle, money and security issues, especially for commpany of that size.

As far as I understand, you do not really care about the Freenas software for these things. Is it correct? I think the windows servers are better for this job.FreeNas is only used for storage purposes. is not it?
Thanks.
