Hi,

I am currently testing out the parts in my sig. I have 6x 6tb reds on order. My plan is to have two different pools:

6x 6TB = pool #1
8x 2TB = pool #2 (the 2TB's are leftovers from other builds).

With the joy of jails & VM's I can cut out the number of PC's running full time. If I can figure out how to get a PCIx card resources sent to a VM I can get rid of three servers which would be good.

Way back in 2006 I bought this (LIAN LI PC-201B Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112109

It should hold all the drives without an issue (in theory) but I may be better off with a different case solution. Any advice or suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Rich

What's wrong with it?

Nothing except that it is large. I was curious if someone had another recommendation.

So I am finding the cooling is not great & while I guess i could mod it, my time may be better spent buying a case that will just work.

I need a case that will handle 14 drives. The one I have no has 12 for internal & then another bunch of 5.25" bays too.

you can buy hdd cage that goes into the 5.25 bays - i have a lian-li case that has 10 hdd.
i bought a cage for $50 - this added 4 hdd (3.5") and 2 (2.5") - this cage has a fan and a filter. it requires 3 empty 5.25 " bays.
