Using CIFS/SMB, I've set up a share. Clients are Win7 and OSX.

In FreeNAS I selected Windows perms.
I've setup perms via Windows GUI.
Everything works great in Win7.

On OSX clients almost everything seems to work but clients CAN'T modify existing files.

This is strange....... because they CAN create, rename, delete files just fine. But if I open a txt file and click save it will not claiming it does not have sufficient privilages. Save As... works fine... as long as file is saved under a new name. Word from Office 2011 thinks the file is read-only.

Did you create the dataset as UNIX, Windows or Apple? For CIFS/Samba shares, you should be using a Windows dataset, this way permissions get assigned in a way that Samba can deal with it.

I selected Windows perms in FreeNAS. I also set all permissions via Windows GUI.
