Can't log into IPMI interface with IPMIVIEW

I cannot access the BMC on my supermicro X9DR-F MB using the edge or chrome browser using the IP address. So it seems it is something else. I setup a static address in the bios. I can ping that address successfully, but IPMVIEW can't access, it but can find it. I have a cable plugged into the IPMI dedicated ethernet port. I don't see an IPMI password in the bios. Any ideas on what is blocking the access?

You won't see an IPMI password anywhere, you pretty much need to know what it is. The IPMI is an independent embedded computer that is installed on your mainboard, and operates independently except for certain predefined things, such as setting the IP address in BIOS, or the IPMI control channel.

For older Supermicro, default l/p will be ADMIN/ADMIN. If you've changed that, then this becomes a bit more difficult, and you will need to use ipmitool from the host system to remove the password. Fortunately, ipmitool is installed by default with TrueNAS. Use "ipmitool user list" and "ipmitool user set password 2"

For newer Supermicro boards the password is printed on a sticky label on the mainboard - near the Ethernet ports if I am not mistaken. The user is still ADMIN.

IPMIVIEW will not access my servers (X9SCM) if the "use SMC RAKP' box is checked (as it is in your screenshot).

Thanks for the help. That did the trick. 2nd user was ADMIN. This is a second hand board and the password had been changed by the previous owner. Too old for the unique password SMC uses today. I think so, there was no label (Patrick). I also needed the tip from Redcoat. It sure is nice that IPMITOOL is supplied with Truenas.
