I already tried this method initially and it worked for the older FreeNAS installation. But this does not seem to work with TrueNAS. After installation on another machine when i connect the USB to this machine the USB Boot is not successful. And since there is no console output i am not able to troubleshot in case there are any errors.

Hi, As explained in my second last post. I tried SCALE as well but that did not work either.
Not sure what you mean by grub chainload.

I did manage to get this working with one trick.
I installed TrueNAS Core on another system using monitor.
Logged in to TrueNAS Core. Enabled Serial Output from the GUI.
Shut down TrueNAS Core.
Installed the USB in WD DX4000.
Configured BIOS to Boot from this USB using serial console.
Then Boot from the USB.
This resulted in a successful boot from the USB and i could login to the Web UI after getting the IP address from the DHCP List on the router.
