Cannot import. No such pool available

The other day my server randomly kept shutting down randomly. I took apart the system and put it back together -- doesn't seem to randomly restart anymore. However upon rebooting into FreeNAS, one of my volumes is missing (Volume2). On startup I get the error message: cannot import '13360268678753776051': no such pool available. None of the disks from Volume 2 are visible via the GUI. The volume has movie data on it, so I would prefer not to lose it if possible.


Version: FreeNAS-11.2-STABLE
Motherboard: Asrock IIC2B 1-1
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220V3 Haswell 3.1GHz LGA 1150
RAM: 16 GB Crucial ECC
Volume 1 Drives: x2 HGST 4 TB NAS HDD
Volume 2 Driver: x2 Seagate 6 TB NAS HDD

If the disks aren't visible to the OS (seems to be confirmed by dmesg output), then FreeNAS can't do much with them.

You will need to do some work to check the hardware connecting those 2 disks to the system (SATA ports on the MB?) and associated cabling and power supply.

You can also test those disks in another system (preferably FreeNAS or Linux with ZoL installed) in order to understand if it's limited to your current system or something with the disks themselves.

The disks are connected directly to the motherboard via SATA cables. Swapping out cables did not solve the issue. The disks still are not found. Plugging them into another system they did not show up. Seems like the disks are not spinning as there is no vibration. Thinking dead hard drives right now. Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

Erwww yea seems to be dead .. but both of them at the same time? What a coincidence (a power surge fried them both baybe?) Anyway check in BIOS directly - I assume they will not be there but just to be absolutely sure. Also can you post model number of the disk(s).

I would plug the two problem disks onto the cables currently attached to the two disks that are showing up on the system, see if they show up in the BIOS. etc.

They do not show up in BIOS even when switching cables. I would expect a power surge or something to have both fail at the same time. They are HGST HDN726060ALE614. Quite the bummer.
