Hi i had to destroy my pool to add a new drive to my core set up and just wondered, i have 2 x 120Gb ssd drives spare is there any benefit to using these for anything in a new scale set up, currently running a 120Gb ssd as my boot drive in core but going to try scale while my pool is destroyed ?
Thanks

You could use those either as a metadata VDEV (if your pool has a good number of files and/or small files), or as an SSD pool for Apps and their data.

And, of course, many other things, but I don't have hours to list them all out for diminishing value as I go.

You could add one as Metadata only L2ARC. These can be added or removed at any time. Metadata only L2ARCs only help if you have lots of directory access. For example, a RSync backup dataset might benefit from such a device.

Thanks atm it’s only for media and photo back up and to use plex to stream these and to add home assistant, I’m afraid that’s my limit atm
