 Forgive me if I've missed a post on this but I'm running 8.3.1 and wonder if anyone has experience using a second ethernet interface for media streaming with miniDLNA ?

I'm a little confused on this as the jail installation notes say that there is no way to pick with interface the jail uses for it's address but does that mean all the plugins are tied to that interface as well ?

Up until now I've just been using the one (re0) for files and media. If I edit the /etc/minidlna.conf to include 'network_interface=re1' will it work ?

Thanks, Mik

Can you see both network interfaces in the jail? That is the real question. If you go into the jail and type 'ifconfig -a' does it list both interfaces?

Hey, Joeschmuck - this is a new install and I haven't installed the jail yet, but I get the point. If the jail can't see it, neither can the plugins - it's separate BSD install, after all. Thanks for making my brain work.

So now I'm wondering if I can make the FreeNAS file server use the 2nd interface after I do the jail install, then... or am I chasing my tail thinking I'll get better performance by using 2 interfaces at all ?

Thanks Again, Joe - Mik
