Can a pool used for app data contain normal datasets?

Let's say, in TrueNas SCALE I set up a pool for app data and choose this pool when I first visit the Apps tab in the UI. Automatically, the ix-applications dataset is made. Can I have any other dataset in that pool, for totally unrelated data? In other words, nothing special is done to that pool when used for apps, right?

IMPOSSIBLE. This would require way too much overhaul in the code. It could takes years. There's a feature request for this, with a hint that it might be implemented in 2028. But even that is wishful thinking.

Jokes aside, do keep in mind that the pool which contains "ix-applications" will sustain steady writes. If it's on HDDs, you might be annoyed by the constant "disk activity", even when the system is "idle".
