Looked around and didn't really find anything other than "a few days", so I figured I would post my results for the future generations to enjoy.
Recently burned in 2 drives one brand new and one used as a usb drive for a few months as I migrated to freenas.
(2) 8TB WD White label (shucked drives)

badblocks (4096 block size) 118 hours ish

SMART test report their time.
badblocks has a timer on the screen while the test is running and then disappears after the test has completed, may the actual time are in a log somewhere.
So around 6 and a half days, not including being a the right place at the right time to start the next test.
