No, what I'm saying is that statements regarding RAM recommendations should not be taken as absolute.
put 14 shelves of drives per rack with 14 drives in each shelf, so that works out to 560 drives, and they are only 300 GB each. I am thinking that thy must have a reason for using small drives instead of just a few of these new 10 TB monsters
Yes, 10k RPM drives are only available in small capacities, in a 2.5" form factor.

There must be another reason besides wanting to have 10k drives.
They tried to talk the department head into an all SSD configuration but he is old-school and would not consider it.
Maybe once he retires...

10k RPM drives are the next best thing after SSDs, in terms of speed.
