Hello,
So I have a failed USB stick in my Supermicro SSG-5048R-E1CR36L
I am using 2 SanDisk Ultra Fit 32GB
NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
freenas-boot DEGRADED 0 0 0
mirror-0 DEGRADED 0 0 0
da19p2 ONLINE 0 0 0
3403762351302809459 UNAVAIL 2 2 0 was /dev/da20p2
Just to test I tried to do a fresh installation (with a new one usb stick in another computer), then plug on a test server and do the normal replacement process (go to system > boot > status and click replace) and then use this new one resiveled to boot. But was not possible to do it by itself, it showed me only a black screen, but if I use the old one the boot is working normally. Could anyone explain me? I tried it with a new usb stick empty it does not work too.
I have read here, the most recommended process is fresh installation and then restore the config, right? But my supermicro server is running in production mode, so I wouldn't like to shutdown to do the fresh installation process. Is it possible replace a usb stick without shutdown the server and be sure if the old one usb stick fail it will be keep working?
